At Sea

April 18, 2016

If it were not for the warm temperature I would think we were in the North Atlantic in winter rather than in the South Pacific.  Today is our third windy, rainy, foggy day in a row.  There has been a change in today's schedule with a special pool party (by the covered Lido pool) at 9:00 pm with "a selection of complimentary drinks".

I slept late and then worked on yesterday's blog entry (the Internet was not being co-operative) until about noon at which time I went to the Crow's Nest to get seats for 1 pm trivia.  Today we had a team of 6 with 12 correct answers.  Two teams tied at 13.

1.Which anniversary of an event is celebrated on the sestercentennial?
2.Which invention in 1867 made Alfred Nobel famous?
3.Who announced the invention of the electric battery in 1902?
4.An adult should have how many teeth?

After trivia we rushed to the aft pool deck (it had stopped raining for a short time) to play Name That Tune only today it was Name That Movie.  Dialogue from a movie was played and the teams had to give the name of the movie.  Winners had 14 out of 15 - we had 8.

By then I was hungry and decided on the taco bar.  I sat, ate, read, looked at the sea, and checked the Internet until about 4:15.  Then time to get ready for the evening.

Tonight was supposed to be a Gala Night but they changed it yesterday to casual.  The ladies at our dinner table all said we were still going Gala.  Because of the pool party the shows were scheduled for 6 and 8 (instead of 8 and 10).  So show at 6, trivia at 7, dinner at 8 and to the party when done with dinner.

The show was "The Unexpected Boys" again this time doing Rock and Roll, Opera, and Broadway.

Evening trivia had four of us playing with a score of 10 out of 15.  The winning team was the artichokes with 12.

1.How do you say "good-bye" in Orkan?
2.What is the shortest and bloodiest Shakespeare play?
3.Which Canadian province contains 1/4 of the world's fresh water?
4.Which army's motto is "Blood and Fire"?

Six of us for dinner (Len did not join us).  Since it was originally a Gala Night there was Beef Tenderloin, Lamb, and Lobster on the menu.  Appetizers included crab legs and escargots.  I had the crab legs (so-so) and the tenderloin (excellent).  I left dinner about 9:15 to go to the pool party.

The Lido pool was packed (as you might imagine when free drinks are available) and it was raining so the cover over the deck had to be kept closed and that made it very humid.  I had a Mai-tai, listened to the captain, and heard the local group brought on board for a few minutes before leaving.

I made it through the entire day without a nap so I must be getting better.

We are safely tied up at the dock.  I did not sign up for a tour for tomorrow so I will wander around for awhile
